Surbhi on a site visit, standing by an arched doorway

Meet Surbhi: from a sketchbook to a studio

Before there was a studio, there was a sketchbook. Surbhi Kalsariya was drawing rooms long before she knew that designing them could be a profession.

The habit stayed. Through college she tutored, took internships and learned the part of the work that does not show up in a drawing: how a site runs, how a material behaves, how a client describes a feeling when they do not have the words for it yet.

A firm of her own

Then came her own firm, and the first projects under her own name. They taught her the lesson she still works by: a space is finished when the people in it feel at home, not when the last invoice is signed.

Starting again

Relocating meant leaving that practice behind and building a new one from nothing. She began at home, taking on projects one at a time. The work spoke for itself, one client told the next, and the home office became a studio of her own at Soham Arcade in Pal, Surat.

Good work travels. Almost every project we have began with someone standing in a home we designed.

CLIS today

CLIS stands for Creating Life In Spaces, and it is meant literally. The studio works across residential, retail and commercial projects, including complete turnkey interiors, and Surbhi still leads each one herself, from the first conversation to the final styling.

Growth so far has come from quality work, happy clients and word of mouth. This journal and our Instagram are simply a way to open the door a little wider. If you would like to talk about a space of your own, the easiest way is to send a message.
